Ian Sprague
Ian Broun Sprague (1920–1994) was an Australian twentieth century studio potter. ==Early life== Sprague was born in Geelong, Victoria in 1920. He was the eighth and last child of Leslie Sprague, a wealthy grazier〔(【引用サイトリンク】website=The Sprague Project )〕 and Minnie Broun, Armidale-born descendant of the Scottish Broun baronets. Sprague spent the Second World War in the Australian Army.〔National Archives of Australia series B883, service number VX110751〕 After the war he was educated at the Gordon Institute of Technology in Geelong and at the University of Melbourne, where he took a degree in architecture in 1950.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.unimelb.edu.au/alumni/findclassmates2013/ABP_golden_alumni_2013.pdf )〕 On a driving holiday in Scotland in 1957, he had a car accident which put him in hospital for five months. His surgeon suggested he restore the strength of his arms by taking up a craft.
